Child is hospitalized in the corridor of the Regional Hospital and awaits procedure since Friday

A digital influencer from Três Lagoas, a city 327 kilometers from Campo Grande, released a request for help this Sunday (12) to get medical care for her stepdaughter, Júlia Sanches, 10 years old. The girl was admitted 12 days ago to the Auxiliadora Hospital in that city. On Friday (10), she was transferred to the Capital to undergo surgery, which has not happened so far. The child waits for the procedure in the corridor of the Regional Hospital.

Health condition – “She was hospitalized on May 30 with pneumonia. The situation worsened and she had a pleural effusion. For 12 days she was treated with medication and they even put a drain on her, but that didn’t solve the situation”, says the girl’s stepmother, Gabriela Oliveira. Júlia is hospitalized in the corridor of the Hospital Regional da Capital accompanied by her mother, Micaella da Silva.

Gabriela says that one of the doctors who treated the child in Três Lagoas said that she needs to undergo surgery to properly drain the fluid that is accumulated in Júlia’s lungs, a procedure that cannot be done in that city due to the lack of structure for it.

Transference request – The family sued the court to obtain assistance. On June 3, a report issued by Hospital Auxiliadora stated: “patient maintaining gravity, urgently needs to be transferred to a pediatric surgery center, a service not available in this municipality.”

Upon entering the Regional Hospital, in Campo Grande, doctors started intravenous treatment and assured that she will undergo surgery. According to the family, Júlia did not undergo any examination in the Capital and they were informed that she will only continue on drug treatment for another 10 days.

“If she went to Campo Grande to, she didn’t need to be transferred, it was enough to stay in Três Lagoas being medicated in the hospital where she was in a comfortable room, alone, in a good ward, and now they don’t want to do the procedure for which she has injunction”, points out Gabriela.

Hall – Also according to the influencer, by waiting in the hallway with other patients in search of medical care, Júlia is at risk of contracting infections, including covid, which could worsen her condition.

“The risk is so much that they are all the time testing her for covid because she is exposed. Just yesterday, 2 quick tests were carried out on her”, says the stepmother.

The girl was even allocated in a room, separate from the other patients, but she was removed from the place and housed in the corridor because the place where she was will house patients with coronavirus. “The head nurse came here and said that this room will become a reference for covid”, said Julia’s mother in audio on Whatsapp forwarded to the family.

Júlia can be sent back to Três Lagoas to continue the treatment in the city where she lives, if the team that cares for the girl in Campo Grande understands that she is no longer at risk and no longer needs surgery, explains Micaella.

O Campo Grande News contacted the Regional Hospital to find out the position of the health unit on the case. However, as of this writing, we have not received a response.
