“I don’t want to praise the day before the evening, but we’re on the home straight. Sam definitely wants to come back to us,” reveals club boss Helge Leonhardt (63). Originally there was a transfer fee of 400,000 euros, which will probably no longer apply.

“The transfer from back then would not be justifiable for us. There are always elements in the business to do it differently. That is the art of those who can do it,” says Leonhardt, the tough negotiator.

A commitment makes sense. The 23-year-old central midfielder showed his potential in 26 second division games for Aue last season. Schreck can be used on the six as well as the eight. It is precisely this position that FCE coach Timo Rost (43) would like to strengthen. In defensive midfield he could clear up next to Ulrich Taffertshofer or boost the game in an advanced role.

But that’s not the only factor that makes Schreck so interesting for Aue. “Sam knows the region, is a very fine and down-to-earth guy. He doesn’t need any time to get used to him and he helps us immediately,” explains Leonhardt.

The violet boss is optimistic that the transfer will be completed this weekend.

“There will be a conference call on Saturday, where we hope we can clarify the final details and get to work,” said Leonhardt.

If everything goes smoothly, Aue would still have an open position. Rost had recently shown demand again and again on the left side.

At the same time, Philipp Riese (32), Jan Hochscheidt (34), Jann George (30), Jannis Lang (20), Felix Göttlicher (20) and Ramzi Ferjani (21) no longer play a role in the FCE’s plans. In addition, Felix Hache (19) joined fourth division Wormatia Worms.
