In an interview given to France 24, Rached Ghannouchi, leader of the Islamo-conservative Ennahda party and president of the dissolved Tunisian Parliament, reacts to the referendum wanted by President Kaïs Saïed on the new Constitution of July 25th. For him, this desired vote was “a failure” and “aims to legitimize the coup of July 25, 2021”, referring to the dissolution of Parliament by the Head of State.

Rached Ghannouchi returns to the lack of legitimacy of the new Tunisian Constitution: if it was adopted by an overwhelming majority of 94.6%, more than two thirds of voters did not go to vote.

Asked in particular about the accusations of money laundering against him, Rached Ghannouchi describes them as “false”, evoking “political manipulation”.
