A 47-year-old man who was on the run from justice was arrested on suspicion of murdering Romualdo Pessoa Ortiz, 53, in Corumbá, a city 419 kilometers from Campo Grande. Romulado was found this morning by a neighbor, lying on the balcony of his residence, which is in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood, tied by a rope and a cut on his forehead, in addition to a trail of blood throughout the house.
The initial suspicion of the police was that the case was a suicide. However, when they arrived at the scene, the witness reported that around 11 pm yesterday he saw Romualdo and another man entering the address. Then she heard a scream from the victim. The witness also reported that the day before, in the afternoon, she had already seen the suspect, accompanied by another man and another woman at the scene and that she would be able to identify them, if she saw them again.
During the search, the police found the suspects’ house and there, in addition to the woman, they found the 47-year-old man hiding inside the bathroom. On his foot was a stain of blood. During the checks, the police still found that he was the target of an arrest warrant. Finally, the police sent the woman and the alleged perpetrator of the crime to the first Civil Police Station in Corumbá, so that the circumstances of the crime could be investigated.
