This Thursday, and after several days of protest, the Government of Córdoba announced a parity agreement with the Union of Public Employees (SEP), which means an annual increase from 102 percent for health workers. However, an important group of professionals communicated their rejection and confirmed that the protests will continue.

According to reports, the increase was “forcefully” rejected by unions in the health sector such as the Association of State Workers (ATE); Union of Health Workers (UTS) and the self-summoned.

An agreement valued by the SEP

In an assembly of more than 400 delegates that took place at the SEP headquarters, its representative José “Pepe” Pihen assured that for the health teams the increase will reach 104%and highlighted the remunerative conversion of the Covid bonus of 17 thousand pesos, which hospital workers receive.

Approval. The SEP, the union of state employees closest to the provincial government, overwhelmingly approved the official offer.

The agreement signed in the Civic Center will imply for public employees (with the exception of the UEPC, which has not yet closed) an increase in the 24% in November; 10% in December and another 10% next January.

All the agents that the SEP brings together will receive these percentages. Although from the union they assure that increases will be higher –between 2% and 3%, on average– according to the categories, for health teams.

In addition to the SEP, the provincial government also got the Superior Personal Union (hierarchical) will accept the salary proposal.

Health workers deny the offer and ask for a dialogue table

However, the agreement made by the SEP did not conform to all health workers and groups not associated with the union confirmed that the protests will continue. These are ATE and UTS, which are not recognized by the Province to discuss salaries, and the self-summoned, who will support the measures of force.

The holder of ATE, Federico Giuliani, asked the provincial government to open a dialogue channel. “We have rejected this offer that the SEP signed, because it does not reach a rise of around 100% for the last 12 months. Our claim is 120%but the fundamental thing is that the Government agree to discuss wages with other guilds, not only with the SEP. They discriminate against us senselessly, when ATE has trade union status recognized by the Ministry of Labor,” said Giuliani.

Conflict. Yesterday there were assemblies in the hospitals. Today there will be a strike and mobilization. (ATE)

While Estela Gimenez, from UTS, insisted on rejecting the increase: “We sent a note to the Minister of Health (Gabriela Barbás) with the claim of the hospital workers. In the assembly, after the demonstration last Wednesday, it was decided not to meet with the Government, until there is a response to our claims. We will continue with the measures of force”,.
