The province of Holguín expands operations through the Frank País International Airportafter the resumption of charter flights from the United States to this destination in eastern Cuba, with the arrival of the MD80 of the World Atlantic airline, from Miami on June 17.
Elizabeth García Oro, director of the Havanatur T&T Oriente Norte branch, explained to the newspaper’s website Now! that other North American airlines will progressively be added with two weekly frequencies from Tampa and Miami to Holguin territory, of which Anmart Air, Viaje Hoy and Invicta have already started operating.
Soon, he specified, Xael Charters will be incorporated as one more option to facilitate the air connection with Holguín, interrupted since March 2020, due to the measures imposed by the Donald Trump administration.
From the resumption of air activity between these destinations, he stressed, The arrival of around 18 charter flights a week is forecast for next month, the highest number recorded compared to the years prior to the sanctions of the former US president.
The travel agency in charge to date for the commercialization of these flights is Sagua Services and Travel, but the approval by the Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Cuba of the requests of Aerocuba and Cubazul is awaited.
The Frank País Airport in the province of Holguín also maintains air connections with countries such as Canada, Italy, Germany and Mexico.
