One of the most famous (fictional) love stories of the present day is being made into a film: the “Barbie” film adaptation wants to conquer the cinema screens in the coming year.

Peroxide blonde hair, toned, suntanned torso, sleeveless denim jacket and a defiant smile: Ryan Gosling as Ken Doll Incarnate.

The actor takes on the role of handsome Kenneth Sean Carson – better known as Ken – in the currently filmed “Barbie” film adaptation. Barbie herself, meanwhile, is played by Margot Robbie (31).

The first picture of the Australian in her tailor-made role caused a stir on social media a few weeks ago. The doubts that Gosling might already be a little too old for the role seem to have disappeared with the new photo from the set.

The two main actors are joined by many other well-known faces from Hollywood. Among others, Marvel star Simu Liu (33, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”), comedian Will Ferrell (54, “Stepbrothers”, “Anchorman”) and Emmy winner America Ferrera (38, ” Superstore”) to be featured in the comedy.

So far, however, it is completely unclear which characters they will take on in the much-anticipated film.

Otherwise, very little is known about the “Barbie” film adaptation, except that it is supposed to be a kind of romantic comedy and is expected to be released in German cinemas on July 20 next year.

“I think it’s a great opportunity to bring something positive into the world and a chance to inspire younger kids,” Robbie told Variety about the film a few years ago.

“People hear ‘Barbie’ and think, ‘I know what this movie is going to be like.’ But then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing, and they’re like, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t know.’

Because one thing is clear: Gerwig (“Lady Bird”, “Little Woman”) is a feminist director. It is impossible for her to portray Barbie as a beautiful silly without comment.
