Despite an imposed suspension of the council for license disputes, the five-star Sapphire House Antwerp hotel in Lange Nieuwstraat will remain open. That is what general manager Anne Ludmann says herself.
The council for license disputes has suspended the operation of the hotel ‘Sapphire House Antwerp’ near the Handelsbeurs “in the case of extreme urgency”, after a complaint from the neighborhood about noise pollution. The judge now imposes a penalty of 10,000 euros per day.

But Sapphire House has no plans to close for the time being, the general manager now says.
“Sapphire House Antwerp keeps its doors open and continues to offer its guests the expected service during their stay. The stated noise pollution is limited to minimal noise caused by an air-conditioning unit on the roof of the hotel. The hotel has meanwhile set this device to reduced capacity, while a final solution is being worked on.”
Sapphire House Antwerp also states that it assures its guests that there will be no noise nuisance in the hotel, but only with regard to a limited number of neighbours.
After the decision of the Council for Permit Disputes, Sapphire House Antwerp wants to remain open and do everything it can to keep the nuisance for the neighbors to a minimum. To this end, there is active consultation with the neighbours, the City of Antwerp and the Handelsbeurs.
