In China, new protests at a Foxconn factory in Zhengzhou

Hundreds of workers demonstrated at the world’s largest iPhone factory on Tuesday (November 22) in Zhengzhou, north central China. Demanding unpaid wages, workers protested, surrounded by guards in white protective suits, holding batons and protective shields, according to the Singapore Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao.

The protest erupted following complaints from new workers hired by Foxconn. The latter had been attracted by the assembly plant which promised them higher wages and better health guarantees than usual, the newspaper said.
