After 12 years, the National Festival of Creole Roast in the Guiñazú neighborhood, in the north of the city of Córdoba. The meeting grouped live musical shows, typical gastronomy tasting and a competition between 30 grills to achieve first place.

The event was scheduled for Sunday, November 20, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Guiñazú Cultural and Sports Center, but for weather reasons moved to Monday holiday November 21.

Early in the morning, the couples prepared the fire to start roasting

Shortly after 9, the contestant couples set out to light the fire. to each competitor he was provided with three full ribs, with vacuum and matambre: one for the competition roasted on the flames and the remaining two roasted freely; nail spits, skewers, knives, forks, boards and dressings.

People from all over the world compete in the contest. Cordoba, Santa Fe, Jujuy, Mendoza, Buenos Aires and La Pampa. Residents of Estación Juárez Celman, San José de la Dormida, Quilino, Jovita, Malagueño, Villa la Bolsa, Unquillo, Villa de Transito, Villa Allende, Potrero de Garay, Marull, Santa María and other towns will compete from the interior of the province.

By noon, the meats were ready to be tasted. Meanwhile, visitors could enjoy live music and folk dance groups arranged on a main stage.

Ángela Cabrera and Adriana Bustamante, the best grills

Ángela Cabrera and Adriana Bustamante were the winning duo. The rotisserie and stove were the triumphants of the National Festival of Creole Roast. In this regard, the women told The voice: “We are proud, we did not expect this award.”

Ángela was the provincial women’s grill champion and this year, she won the top prize. The challenge was to achieve the best rack of ribs. “There was a lot of wind and the rib cage was very big. Still we were able to meet the challenge, there were many jurors and you have to please them all“, said.

While, this contest was the first of the stoker Adriana Bustamante. “It was something unexpected, it is the first time that I participate. The festival was very nice and as a prize they gave each of us a knife and a mobile stake”, said the 40-year-old woman who is also a domestic worker.

The couples were evaluated by a jury that awarded a score according to their performance in: technique and time spent; roast cooking and flavor; knowledge of barbecue and traditions; outfit; behavior, hygiene and cleanlinessas indicated by the organization of the event.

On the same property, there were a large gastronomic tent where the neighbors were able to buy different dishes and enjoy an interesting proposal. Regarding prices, the value of the roast portion was worth 1,500 pesos per person.

What was the secret of the preparation of the winning rib

The champion said that the seasoning of the roast was only with salt and pepper. “I have been participating in contests for four years and I am learning something in all of them. I always feel like an apprentice,” said the woman who thanked her family and the Los Cedros community.
