Kirsten Flipkens with Sania Mirza to eighth finals doubles at WTA Miami


Kirsten Flipkens and the Indian Sania Mirza qualified for the eighth finals of the doubles in Miami on Friday ($8,584,055). The duo beat Canadian Leylah Fernandez and American Ingrid Neel in the first round 6-3 and 7-6 (7/2).


For a place in the quarterfinals, Flipkens and Mirza will face the Dutch Demi Schuurs and the American Desirae Krawczyk, who form the seventh seed on the hard court in Florida and on Thursday Greet Minnen and the Georgian Ekaterine Gorgodze 6-2, 4-6 and took out 10-5.

Elise Mertens also plays the doubles of “the fifth Grand Slam”. She forms the first seed with the Russian Veronika Kudermetova. In the first round they will face the Italian Jasmine Paolini and the Slovenian Tamara Zidansek.
