Lamartine discovered leukemia last Monday and was hospitalized for treatment in São Paulo

Lamartine Figueiredo, former deputy mayor of Corumbá, 416 kilometers from Campo Grande, died this Sunday (8th) at the age of 74. Diagnosed with leukemia last Monday (02), he was hospitalized in São Paulo for medical treatment, but ended up not resisting.

Lamartine was a Dental Surgeon by training and served as a councilor from 1989 to 1992. He was Secretary of Social Assistance; chaired the Junta Interventor da Santa Casa, in 2010, had his name as honorary president of the (PDT), a party in which he led twice and was part of Soamar (Sociedade Amigos da Marinha), in addition to other social institutions.

To the Campo Grande Newsthe deputy Paulo Duarte of the summit (PSB), lamented the sudden departure of the “father, friend and brother”, who will stay in memory forever.

“He was one of the most illustrious and well-known figures in Corumbá, a guy who, in addition to his trajectory, can be defined as the kindest person I’ve ever met.” Corumbá will never be the same again. I can’t believe it, he discovered Leukemia and today it’s gone, last week he was fine”, he reports very emotional.

Lamartine’s body has not yet been released, consequently, the time and location of the wake have not yet been set. He is survived by his wife Carmen Saad Costa and children Lamartine Júnior, Leonardo, Pedro Paulo and Maria Cláudia.
