Firefighters are fighting the fire, which destroyed all vehicles in the area.
A large-scale fire hits a junkyard on the BR-163, exit to São Paulo, in Campo Grande, this Saturday morning (6). Vehicles from the Fire Department are mobilized to fight the fire, which has already consumed all vehicles.
According to the aspiring firefighter, Gustavo Frias, it was not possible to point out how the flames started, but a broken telephone cable was found at the scene. The fire spread very fast and the smoke could be seen from miles away.
So far, 5,000 liters of water have been used and a truck has just arrived with another 10,000 liters. “As there is a lot of rubber, it accumulates a lot of heat and fighting fire takes time”, explained Gustavo.
Despite the intense work of the firefighters, the flames consumed all the vehicles in the junkyard, including cars and trucks. There was concern that the flames would reach the next door, a mortar company, and a jet car wash, in front of the junkyard, where two vehicles are parked, one for fuel and the other for vegetable oil.

Energisa, the company responsible for distributing electricity, was called and is on site.
