A man with a belly of 144 centimeters in circumference was the winner this Thursday of a fat contest in celebration of Father’s Day in Nicaraguawhich is commemorated every June 23 in this country.
The man, identified as Ricardo Páiz, 60, and a native of the city of Masaya (southwest), won first place in the contest called “Papá Panzón”, within the framework of Nicaraguan Father’s Day, an activity organized by the station Tu Nueva Radio Ya, with a Sandinista profile.

Páez, father of six children, was accompanied by relatives, who encouraged him in the public, while station workers measured his belly with a circumference tape, according to Efe.
The second place in the contest was obtained by Noel Rueda, 47 years old, father of four children and with a belly of 141 centimeters in circumference.
In the contest, held in a tourist center next to the volcanic lagoon of Tiscapa, in the southeast of Managua, three fathers of families with the most bulging bellies participated, who were presented to the attendees on a platform with their bodies discovered up to the hip. .
The last time this contest had been held was in 2019, when Javier Salablanca, then 44 years old, won with a belly 180 centimeters in circumference.
According to the organizers, the record set in 2014 still stands, when the winner’s belly measured 185 centimeters.
The first place was awarded with a television and baskets with various products, while the second place got a microwave and a basket with products.
The activity of “Papá Panzón” was enlivened by local musical groups.
