Margot Robbie is now one of the biggest names in Hollywood, but when her career was just starting to take off, she turned down a huge opportunity when she was offered a role in Playboy magazine.

Instead, the big breakthrough was Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film, The Wolf of Wall Street brought her, in which she played the second wife of Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. The role featured many racy scenes, including a full nude scene, which naturally caught the attention of the late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. She may not have known his name at the time, but she knew she wanted to see it in her magazine.
Robbie, who was just 23 years old at the time, turned down the offer, but admitted that when she accepted the role, she was still worried that the overheated scenes would end up on the internet forever. However, when the director suggested that the scene in question be watered down for his convenience, he made a brave decision to reject it in order to preserve the film’s integrity. “I think nudity simply for the sake of nudity is shameful. If they put it in just to get a girl to take off her top, it’s disgusting and you can always tell.” – stated the Telegraphto.
“Naomi’s point is that her body is the only currency in this world. So when Martyn Scorsese tried to help me and said maybe I could wear a robe in the scene where he’s seducing Jordan, I said no. He should be naked. He’s laying his cards on the table.”
The actress’ commitment to authenticity is admirable, but she says that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been difficult and awkward for her. “It doesn’t come across when you’re watching the film, but in reality we’re in a tiny bedroom with 30 crew members crammed into it,” he told Porter in a 2018 interview, reflecting on filming one of the film’s memorable seduction scenes.
