Mathieu van der Poel (27) announced his full cyclo-cross calendar for the coming season on Monday. The Dutch former world champion will be at the start of fourteen cyclocross races this winter, twice interrupted by a training period in Spain. In eleven of them he will face Wout van Aert.

Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) opens his cyclo-cross season in the Hulst World Cup on Sunday. A week later he will be seen in Boom (Superprestige) and Antwerp (World Cup). Antwerp will also be the first clash with Wout van Aert. Their last confrontation in the field dates back to December 27, 2021 in Zolder.

Also in Mol (23/12), Gavere (26/12), Heusden-Zolder (27/12), Diegem (28/12) and Loenhout (31/12), the cross enthusiasts will have a duel with Van Aert before New Year. In total, the two rivals will meet eleven times on the cross bike this winter, a lot more than the previous winters.

For Van der Poel, the World Cup on home soil in Hoogerheide, on the course of father Adrie’s Grand Prix, will be the absolute highlight of the cyclocross season.
