“From 3:30 p.m. we are waiting for you all in the Plaza de Mayo to embrace each other and honor the legacy of our eternal companion Hebe. Let there be none, let them stay at home, let them all come, cover the square,” the Mothers expressed through the official Twitter account.
In turn, they announced that the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo will also be present Josefa de Fiore, Visitation of Loyola, Irene de Chueque, Sara Mrad and Carmen Arias.
In the video posted on social media last Sunday, Bonafini had expressed his will at the time of his death: “The day I die they don’t have to cry, they have to dance, they have to sing, have a party in the square because I did what I wanted and said what I wanted.”
The Children’s Group also joined the mobilization that seeks to honor the benchmark. “This Thursday, 11.24 at 3:00 p.m., we are going to Plaza de Mayo to say goodbye to Hebe forever. With the white handkerchief as a flag, always,” she said on her social networks.
The remains of Hebe de Bonafini will rest in Plaza de Mayo
On Sunday the entity of Mothers had stated that “at the request of Hebe herselfhis ashes will rest in the Plaza de Mayo” and remarked that the details of this initiative would be reported later.
The remains will go through the same process as those of Azucena Villaflor de Vicenti, the first mother, whose ashes remain buried at the base of the Pyramid of May. In this way, the memory of Hebe de Bonafini and her ashes will be deposited in the same place where the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo began their struggle more than 45 years ago.
Hebe Maria Pastor de Bonafini began her duties as president in 1979. In 1977 he suffered the disappearances and kidnappings of his sons Omar and Raúl. Subsequently, his daughter-in-law, María Elena Bugnone Cepeda, disappeared.
