Frankfurt am Main – Gala performance in the opening match! Of the FC Bayern Munich overrun Eintracht Frankfurt in the first game of the new Bundesliga season formally and won intoxicatingly 6:1 (5:0).
In the Deutsche Bank Park, which was sold out with 51,500 spectators, Joshua Kimmich scored the 1-0 for the record champions (5th minute). Benjamin Pavard (2: 0, 11th), Sadio Mané (3: 0, 29th) as well as Jamal Musiala (4: 0, 35th) and Serge Gnabry (5: 0, 43rd) increased before the break. After half-time, Kolo Muani (1:5, 64th) scored SGE’s consolation goal before Musiala (6:1, 83rd) restored the old lead.
Compared to the comfortable 4-0 victory in the DFB Cup against 1. FC Magdeburg, Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner made only one change to his first team. Captain Sebastian Rode rotated into the starting lineup for Daichi Kamada (bank). The offensive trio of striker Rafael Borré and the two high-quality technicians Mario Götze and Jesper Lindström, which had recently worked together wonderfully, were able to play together again.
His opponent, FCB coach Julian Nagelsmann, saw no reason for any changes after the furious 5:3 victory in the Supercup against RB Leipzig and trusted exactly the same team as in the previous week. It was also clear that 70 million man Matthijs de Ligt had to be content with a place on the bench for the time being.

At the start of the 60th Bundesliga season, Bayern started furiously and took the lead in the 5th minute thanks to a sensational free-kick from Kimmich. From about 25 meters, the national player did not cross the ball high into the penalty area, as everyone thought, but slyly put it low right into the corner of the wall. SBU keeper Kevin Trapp was surprised and it was 1-0 for Bayern!

FC Bayern Munich overruns Eintracht Frankfurt, Thomas Müller with three assists
The FCB literally overran the SGE in the early stages and only six pointer turns later came to the next dangerous action in front of the Frankfurt box.
A corner from Kimmich found Lucas Hernandez’s head, who passed the ball centrally to Thomas Müller. The original Bavarian started an artistic side kick, the rebound of which landed in front of Pavard’s feet, who in turn didn’t hesitate for long and put the play equipment into the bottom left corner with a full instep – 2:0 for the record champions (11th)!
In return, the first chance for the Adlerträger. Filip Kostic brought a corner from the right into the dangerous zone, where Tuta climbed the highest and headed the bar from seven meters – almost the goal for the SGE (12)!
Eintracht makes a big minus: equity almost used up
In a wild game, the next excitement followed immediately. During a counterattack, Gnabry and Müller suddenly ran towards Trapp without an opponent. The former played across just before the goal, but Kostic, who was hurrying behind, was just able to disrupt Müller decisively, so that he only maneuvered the ball against the post when it fell (23′).
After a great solo effort, which danced four opponents into the sixteen, Lindström only failed to himself by pushing the ball just past the goal in front of Manuel Neuer – that should have been the goal (26th)!
Sadio Mané scores for Bayern Munich in his Bundesliga premiere
The highlights of the encounter did not stop thereafter either. In midfield, the Munich team captured the ball, switched on the turbo and finally Mané nodded in a butter-soft chip cross from Gnabry to make it 3-0 (29th).
By the 35th minute at the latest, everyone who was with Frankfurt wanted to switch off the TV sets. The Bayern fans, on the other hand, saw their team’s next wonderful goal.
Mané initiated, took Müller along on the right, at the right moment conjured up a raised sugar pass past Trapp to Musiala from the ankle and the youngster only had to put his leg out – 4:0 for FCB (35th)!
By this time, a class difference had long been discernible in the Deutsche Bank Park. This impression was reinforced with the fifth goal of Gnabry’s guests on another presentation by Müller.
What a beating for the reigning Europa League winner and what a monstrous performance by the Nagelsmann team in the first half!
Kolo Muani scores his first Bundesliga goal for Eintracht Frankfurt
In contrast to the first section, the second round was a little more relaxed.
In the 56th minute it was finally the turn of the Hessians to celebrate. But Kristjan Jakic’s successful move into the Neuer box was ruled out for offside.
The duel flattened out as the Isar-Kicker were able to save energy early on and the men from the Main were hopelessly behind.
But the Glasner protégés didn’t want to say goodbye to their loyal supporters without a consolation goal in their own stadium, which was ultimately to come from substitute Muani. After a poor acceptance by Neuer, the Frenchman sprinted in between and easily netted from 18 meters to make it 1: 5 (64th).
Shortly before the end, Musiala was rewarded again for his strong performance when, after a fine pass from Sane, he holed in technically well – 6:1 (83rd). With this impressive performance, the guests dismantled the eagle bearers into their individual parts and put a big exclamation mark on the championship competition.
