the ministers Kassio Nunes Marquesat the STFreestablished the political rights of the former governor of the Federal District Jose Roberto Arrudafrom the PL, the same party as Jair Bolsonaro.
Arruda was ineligible for having been convicted in two cases of administrative impropriety within the scope of the operation Pandora’s Box, launched in 2009. The decision to revoke political rights was taken by the Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories.
The ex-governor’s defense had gone to the STJ to ask for the overturning of the decisions, without success. This Friday, in an injunction requested from the STF, Minister Nunes Marques understood that the former governor may run for election this year. Arruda should apply for a seat in the Chamber this year.
“In view of the foregoing, I suspend the effectiveness of the judgment handed down by the Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories in Civil Appeal 0013595-14.2011.8.07.001, leaving José Roberto Arruda’s political rights restored”, says Nunes Marques in the sentence.
In a note, Arruda said that the STF minister “repaired a flagrant illegality against the political rights of a citizen considered legally eligible for any and all purposes”.
