Homeless people are among those who suffer the most from the cold wave that has been acting in Mato Grosso. Even so, more than half of those approached by the SAS (Municipal Social Assistance Secretariat) refuse assistance.

According to the secretary, from April 1 to May 31, 1,011 were held, of which only 487 accepted acceptance. In total, 567 blankets were distributed. Sas does not have a report on the number of homeless people in the Capital, but points out that approaches are carried out daily, throughout the year.

The approach teams offer the services to the resident, who has the option of accepting or not being attended by the agents. In the shelters of the reception centers, the homeless receive daily clothes, bed, place for bathing, 4 meals a day, psychosocial and medical assistance, in addition to being free to practice sports.

In the last few days, it has been very cold in the Capital. On Sunday, for example, the thermometers marked 5.8ºC with a thermal sensation of 0ºC, in the early hours of the day.
