Trade in the Moreninhas region, a neighborhood located on the outskirts of São Paulo, profited from last-minute Mother’s Day sales, this Sunday morning (8), in Campo Grande. There was a trader who had creativity to attract customers with chocolate baskets, teddy bears and pillows.

Excited by the movement, Cristina Conceição da Costa, owner of a utility store for 20 years, bet on special baskets and the expectation until 10 am, when she was interviewed by the reporting team, was to sell 100% of the products. “My husband who makes the baskets. We make a lot of money this time of year. Mother’s Day and the end of the year is the best time for us,” she said.

According to Cristina, the baskets for all tastes and audiences range from R$45 to R$138. They are decorated with chocolate, stuffed animals and pillows. “From yesterday to today we have sold about 100. This is our flagship on commemorative dates”, she said with a smile. She said that she always opens the shop on Sundays, but today there is a difference in the date.

Who guaranteed two chocolate baskets at Cristina’s establishment, for her mother and grandmother, was businessman Michael Pereira da Silva, 30 years old. “I took advantage of the fact that the store is open and came to buy in the last few seconds. This date is very important, we can’t let it erase. There are a lot of everyday things that go unnoticed, this date makes us remember childhood moments. Mother’s Day for me is one of the main commemorative dates of the year”, he highlighted.

There’s always someone forgotten who comes to buy at the last minute,” she said. Lucimar opened the store at 8 am and will close at 1 pm. “After I close here, we’ll celebrate together. They [os dois filhos] they are already making a barbecue for me”, he joked.

The increase in sales was already predicted by the ACICG (Commercial and Industrial Association of Campo Grande). A survey of entrepreneurs showed that 77% expected to sell more on Mother’s Day this year compared to 2021.
