On the morning of this Thursday, Legal Medicine delivered the body of the Paraguayan prosecutor to a funeral home in Cartagena Marcelo Pucci to proceed with its preparation and shipment – tonight or early tomorrow to Asunción – where it is planned that honors will be paid to him and his funeral will be carried out.
Parallel to this, three groups of investigators from the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police are advancing in the process to find the whereabouts of the assassins and the perpetrators of the crime that impacted the governments of Colombia and Paraguay.

Sources consulted by EL TIEMPO indicated that at the scene of the crime – a private beach in Barú – The investigators “collected shells from a 9-millimeter pistol, which coincide with the opinion of Forensic Medicine that reported that Pecci received three impacts with a weapon of the same caliber”.
Claudia Aguilera, wife of the prosecutor and who was with him at the time of the attack, told this newspaper at the time that “one of the men got out and without saying a word shot Marcelo twice, one hit in the face and another in the back”.
That story coincides with what was found in the victim’s body and that is detailed in the opinion of the investigators.
Similarly, investigators who have received support from agents from the United States and Paraguay, are working to reconstruct the timeline after the identification of the place “where the assassins rented the jet ski that they used to move from the port to Barú”. one of the sources said.
Investigators rule out that hit men are Paraguayan
“They acted brazenly, rented the jet ski, killed the prosecutor and returned to the place,” said one of the sources facing the process. She added “We are sure that the assassins were not Paraguayans.”
Similarly, the sources indicated that they have made progress in identifying and locating, “to listen to their testimonies”, of the people who were registered at the Hotel and who were on the beach at the time of the crime.”
In fact, the sources claimed that “it is clear that they had a ‘marker’ in the hotel, that is, a person who informed the assassins of the location of prosecutor Pecci and his movements to pinpoint the time of the attack”.
The sources indicated that the authorities have received several calls “from citizens who have provided first-hand information that has served to advance the case in a very positive way.”
The government offers up to 2,000 million pesos for information that leads to the location and capture of the material and intellectual authors of the crime of prosecutor Marcelo Pecci.
