Phenomenal Klay Thompson-Stephen Curry tandem leads Golden State Warriors to Western Conference final

The Golden State Warriors secured a spot in the Western Conference finals on Friday night. They defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 110-96 to take a decisive 4-2 lead. The Milwaukee Bucks, who are defending their title in the NBA, lost at home to the Boston Celtics and will have to finish the job in the seventh and final head-to-head meeting.

Golden State could once again count on their strong duo Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. Thompson scored 30 points, including eight three-pointers, and eight rebounds. Curry was good for 29 points and seven rebounds. In the losing camp, Dillon Brooks (30 pts) and Desmond Bane (25 pts) quickly found their way to the basket.

Golden State is aiming for a fourth title this season after those of 2015, 2017 and 2018. The Californians will play in the final of the western conference against the Phoenix Suns or the Dallas Mavericks. They will play against each other for the seventh and last time on Sunday evening. Also in the Eastern Conference semifinal between Milwaukee and Boston there will be a “game 7”. The Bucks failed to qualify for their home crowd on Friday evening, despite a great performance by their Greek star player Giannis Antetokounmpo. He scored 44 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists, but on the other side Jayson Tatum was also unstoppable with 46 points and 9 rebounds. The Celtics won 95-108.

The decision will be made on Sunday evening in Boston’s TD Garden. The winner will face Miami in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat eliminated Philadelphia 4-2.
