“The Colonelship of the Grenadier Guards was his most cherished title, and Andrew wants it back,” a source told the British newspaper. He reports that the prince (62) has also urged his mother that his daughters – the princesses Beatrice and Eugenie – would become working royals. However, the most important thing for Andrew would be his status as Royal Highness. He also wants that title back, according to the insider.

Andrew is still ninth in line to the throne, and that traditionally includes a role like Counselor of State Bee. Usually that role is filled by the husband of the incumbent monarch and the next four adults in the line of succession: currently Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry, and therefore Prince Andrew. The position includes all kinds of privileges, which is why the disgraced royal would like to be a working member of the royal family again.

Whether that will happen, however, remains to be seen. The queen has the last word on that anyway, but Prince Charles would have already said that he didn’t feel much for it. There is talk within the family about a position for Andrew, but what that should look like is still unclear.

Andrew will be seen in public again for the first time in a long time on Monday. Along with other members of the royal family, he will attend the annual ‘Order of the GarterCeremony at Windsor Castle. It will be his first official appearance since the memorial service for his father Prince Philip, in March.

Prince Andrew was discredited when a woman accused him of sexually abusing her as a minor. The victim, Virginia Giuffre, made a report. Andrew vehemently denied, but nevertheless agreed to a settlement of millions of euros to avoid a lawsuit.
