A large student march in Quito was dispersed by a cloud of tear gas launched by the Police in a central square in the capital of Ecuadoras part of the national strike called by the indigenous movement against the economic policy of the government of conservative Guillermo Lasso.

Thousands of studentssupported by other social groups, walked the streets of the historic center of Quito in a peaceful march in which many young people danced near the Presidential Palace of Carondeletheavily guarded by police.

And while sporadic cries of “Lasso out, out”many criticized the economic management of the Executive, which they accuse of the great increase in prices in the food markets.

Groups of young artists have also been observed singing protest melodies and even improvised dances criticizing the authorities, especially the police, who were rebuked for being strong in the protests and weak in the face of the rise in crime.

The Federation of University Students joined the call for the national mobilization called by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities (Conaie), the most important social organization in the country, which made a call to strengthen the indefinite protest from the territories where the communities and other popular groups act.

The president of the Conaiein one of his first messages after being released, called on the bases of his movement and other social fronts to strengthen the protest and maintain it, even if he were arrested again.

“We ratify the mobilization” indefinitely, with a national character and “sustained from the territories”said Iza, pointing out that the protest actions on the third day of the national strike have been felt in fifteen of the twenty-four provinces of the country.
