The Senate of the Republic approved this Thursday a resolution that seeks to give recognition to the People’s Republic China for the donation and management of vaccines against covid-19.

This is a proposal by the spokesman for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the Senate, Yvan Lorenzoin order to recognize the Asian country “for the contributions and solidarity provided to the country during the pandemic“.

“It is a price to recognize the actions and willingness of the People’s Republic China in facilitating supplies of vaccines to the Dominican Republic, which contributes to combating the pandemic covid-19”, establishes one of the recitals.

Within the document, Lorenzo pointed out that since the country broke diplomatic relations with Taiwan, in 2018, and later allied with Chinarelations between the two countries have been fruitful.

The Peledeista senator maintained that, thanks to the vaccines delivered by the Chinese government, the country made progress in immunization against covid-19.


The recognition will be delivered to the Chinese ambassador in the country, Zhang Run.
