This was reported to Télam by spokesmen for UTEP, led by the historic leader Esteban “Gringo” Castro, who announced that the main act for Workers’ Day will take place at the intersection of Mayo and 9 de Julio avenues, starting from 14.

“There is a strong call for popular mobilization” by the Evita Movement, Somos-Barrios de Pie and the Clasista and Combative Current (CCC), the organizers promised.

“We plan to celebrate this May 1 with a great federal mobilization to vindicate work as a social computer, deepen the struggle to dignify the work of the popular economy and state that this technocratic model focused on profits can no longer stand, we have to put the good living as a central objective,” Onorato told Télam.

“Today, the struggle of the workers remains the same as the one for which the Chicago martyrs were assassinated in the United States: to make the distribution of the wealth that we collectively generate fairer”Juan Carlos Alderete

In addition to the laws of the popular economy sector, the organizations will support the proposal of the National Government to capture the extraordinary income to pay the internal debt: “This fight finds us united with all the popular movements, it is not a palace dispute, this is deeper, it is about confronting those who permanently win at the cost of social rejection, and do not care about poverty and inequality,” said the social leader.

For some time now, the UTEP has been promoting a series of laws in Congress, including the monotributo productive to formalize the popular economy; the national program of Land, Roof and Work; the extension of Law 24,753 of Popular Neighborhoods; the environmental protection law for wetlands; the extension of Law 26,160 of the indigenous communities; and the law for the promotion and development of the popular economy, among others.

In this context, Juan Carlos Alderete, leader of the CCC and deputy of the Frente de Todos (FdT), told Télam: “Today, the struggle of the workers continues to be the same as that for which the martyrs are assassinated in the United States of Chicago: to make the distribution of the wealth that we generate collectively fairer. Today we are particularly saying that we want the broken dishes left by the macrismo and the unprecedented pandemic, not to be paid by the workers and the people.

“Today we have 7% unemployment, but 40% poverty and almost 10% indigence. That means that many families of active workers are poor and some indigent. Very different from what happened about 7 years ago, With an average gross salary of around $1,300, then who is keeping that difference?

The Unity Left Front (FITU) called to gather in the Plaza de Mayo starting at 3:00 p.m. with slogans such as the rejection of the “pact with the IMF and the adjustment” and demanding “salary recovery and a 6-hour day “

For the call of this sector, the UTEP papered a large part of the billboards of the Buenos Aires avenues with the call for the mobilization on Sunday, with the legend: “May 1st, for Land, roof and Work” (TTT).

On May 1, hundreds of thousands will participate to say that the center of concern is work and the salary or income that represents greater dignity. We also know that we are the ones who generate wealth.”

“We will mobilize against those who continue to imagine an Argentina for the few, against those worshipers of God Money who continue to build an exclusive society, the popular movements, under the inspiration of Francis, continue to work for another possible world. A more fraternal world, a world that allows us to have democracies that are worthy, since without social justice there is no peace or democracy”, remarked the social leader.
