A 30-year-old smuggler was arrested with a stolen vehicle that was crammed with R$240,000 in cigarettes smuggled from Paraguay, in Ponta Porã, 313 kilometers from Campo Grande. The suspect was traveling in a Fiat Doblô and was approached by military road police officers on the night of this Thursday (12) during inspection on MS-164.
The police found the cargo shortly after the approach and, faced with the act, the smuggler admitted that he took the goods in Ponta Porã and would bring it to Campo Grande. A radio communicator was also installed in the vehicle, used in conversations with the loader.
During the checks, the agents also discovered that the vehicle’s real license plate was from Belo Horizonte/MG and that the car had been stolen last week, in São Paulo/SP. The suspect received a voice of arrest and was sent along with the merchandise to the Federal Police station in Ponta Porã.
