Subway strike: why line C will be interrupted
In a statement, the AGTSyP announced that it still has not “received responses from Emova to the request to reduce the weekly working day, to work 5 days, a situation aggravated by the lack of personnel in all sectors and by the delay in the purchase of new trains without asbestos by the City Government”, for which they took these “self-defense measures”.
They also pointed out that 75 employees are affected by the mineral and “three colleagues died from diseases caused by asbestos”. “For workers, reducing the weekly workday would mean reducing exposure to this carcinogen and gaining health,” they said.
On November 7 and 14 there were also subway stoppages for the same claims, but Emova’s response showed that the reduction in working hours “it is unfeasiblesince it implies a reduction in the weekly working day from 36 to 30 weekly hours, incompatible with proper operation of this essential service and below reasonable levels of productivity.
