Sunday, May 15, Somali parliamentarians vote to choose the president

Somali parliamentarians will choose this Sunday, May 15 the new president after more than a year of postponement of the elections. In all, 39 candidates are vying for the top job in a country that is facing an insurrection by radical Chabab Islamists and drought.

Three NGO networks fighting against corruption in Niger filed a joint complaint on Wednesday with the Niamey prosecutor’s office. This complaint follows the revelations, at the end of April, of the Court of Auditors on dozens of cases of embezzlement.

The Court of Auditors concludes that these embezzlements reach 63 billion CFA francs (95.7 million euros) of loss of earnings for the State of lack gained for the State of Niger.
