Ticketmaster has canceled general ticket sales for Taylor Swift’s US tour. The sale was scheduled to start this Friday.

The news of the cancellation of ticket sales for the tour “The Eras”, by singer Taylor Swift, in the USA, comes a few hours after Ticketmaster released a statement in response to complaints from fans, who faced several problems during online pre-sales. of the tickets.

Days before tickets went on sale, the singer’s fans were directed to sign up for Ticketmaster’s “Verified Fan” program, where, if chosen, they would receive a code to enter the pre-sale. However, the site crashed several times during the process, leaving many interested parties without tickets and in long queues, according to the BBC.

The company assured that ticket sales would continue as normal after the incident. However, it announced this Thursday that, due to the “impressive number of bot attacks” and high demand for tickets, the general sale would be cancelled.

The statement has already led several fans to express messages of revolt against the company on social networks. US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in an open letter, also asked that Ticketmaster’s “monopoly” should never have control over the live music industry and that “they need to be controlled”.

The world tour announcement followed the release of Taylor Swift’s tenth album, “Midnights”. “The Eras Tour” starts on March 17th and runs until August 9th, 2023 in the US, then expanding to other international stages.
