The average auction yield on the 12-month discount treasury bill was 6.55 percent

The Public Debt Management Center (ÁKK) announced a 12-month discount treasury bill for HUF 20 billion at Thursday’s auction. The primary distributors submitted bids worth HUF 8.8 billion, of which the GDMA accepted only HUF 3.5 billion.

The average auction yield on the 12-month discount tranche was 6.55 percent on Thursday, 16 basis points higher than the average yield on the previous auction and 3 basis points higher than Wednesday’s secondary market reference yield. The auction yield on the 12-month T-bill was 4.11 percent at the beginning of 2022, 0.43 percent at the beginning of 2021, and 0.03 percent at the beginning of 2020. – published the MTI.

It is important to draw attention to the fact that the 12-month discount treasury bill should not be confused with the One-Year Hungarian Government Securities (formerly known as the Interest-bearing Treasury Bill), as we are talking about two completely different products!

From a 7-year floating rate bond launched at the same time as the treasury bill An offer worth HUF 66.8 billion was received from the primary distributors, so the GDMA it accepted an amount HUF 15 billion higher than the announced amount, a total of HUF 30 billion.

At the fifth auction of the ten-year green bond an offer worth HUF 40.9 billion was received from the primary distributors, therefore ÁKK sold HUF 9.5 billion more than announced, a total of HUF 19.5 billion. The average auction yield was 7.46 percent, which is 110 basis points higher than the average yield at the auction a month earlier.
