After the death of the historic president of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo and activist for Human Rights, Hebe de Bonafinithe Government decreed three days of national mourning.
Through a communiqué from the Spokesperson of the Presidency of the Nation, it was reported that “The government decrees three days of national mourning and pays homage to Hebe, her memory and her struggle that will always be present as a guide in difficult times”.

“The President of the Nation Alberto Fernandez bids farewell with deep pain and respect to Hebe de Bonafini, Mother of Plaza de Mayo and tireless fighter for human rights,” the document began.
“The Argentine government and people recognize in her an international symbol of the search for memory, truth and justice for the thirty thousand disappeared. As founder of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, she shed light in the middle of the dark night of the military dictatorship and paved the way for the recovery of democracy forty years ago,” she added from the Presidency.
President, Alberto Fernandez, also expressed himself through his social networks and pointed out that “With the departure of Hebe de Bonafini we lost a tireless fighter. Claiming truth and justice together with the Mothers and Grandmothers, she faced the genocidal when collective common sense went in another direction. With great affection and sincere regret, I bid you farewell. Until always she Hebe ”.
Hebe de Bonafini died at the age of 93
The president of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, Hebe de Bonafini, She was 93 years old and had been discharged on October 13, after having been hospitalized for three days at the Italian Hospital in the city of La Plata for medical check-ups.
His daughter Alejandra Bonafini was the one who confirmed the death through a statement. “It is with great pain that we inform you that today at 9:20 a.m. Hebe de Bonafini passed away. We are extremely grateful for the demonstrations of love, accompaniment and concern that my mother has received during these days of hospitalization at the Italian Hospital in the city of La Plata, as throughout her militant career.”
In the same text, he continued: “These are very difficult moments and of deep sadness and we understand the love of the people for Hebe, but at this moment as a family we have the need to mourn the Mother of Plaza de Mayo, Hebe, in intimacy, so we will be reporting from tomorrow which will be the spaces for the tributes and reminders”.
“From now on there are no words that really mean my deep gratitude to the medical health team that for so many years assisted and cared for her, as well as to the medical, nursing, auxiliary and managerial team of the Italian Hospital of La Plata, who During the days of hospitalization they were by my mother’s side, taking care of her with much love and respect. We will continue to find Hebe in the Plaza and in the village fights!” Alejandra concluded.
