The work of the writer and journalist Ezequiel Suárez received the distinction from the Honorable Deliberative Council of General Pueyrredon.

Through Decree No. 147, the Honorable Deliberative Council of General Pueyrredon declared “of interest” the presentation of the biography “Olguín: a story to tell” of the writer and journalist Ezekiel Suarezwhich will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 7, at the Alvarado Athletic Club with the presence of the world champion Jorge Olguin.

The act of delivery of the declaration was carried out in the session hall, with the stellar presence of Mr. Olguin; of the author of the book, Ezekiel Suarezand of the members of the Body: Vito Amalfitano, Roberto Gandolfi, Roberto “Chucho” Paez Y Marina Santoro (FdT).

About Suarez

Ezekiel Suarez He was born in the town of Dolores on July 10, 1973. He is a journalist, teacher and national soccer coach. In 1994 he began his career as a radio announcer. He has been covering the league of Dolores and regional soccer tournaments since 1999.

Likewise, he covered the World Cup in its editions of Germany, 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018; and the Copa América in its editions of Venezuela 2007, Argentina 2011, Chile 2015, the United States 2016, Brazil 2019 and the 2021 edition that had Brazil as its emerging venue designated by Conmebol, after the withdrawal of the original venues to Colombia and Argentina for the health situation.

He also recounted the participation of the Argentine National Team since the Qualifiers on the way to South Africa until the last ones on the way to Qatar 2022, being the only radio announcer from the country who was present in the 18 meetings prior to Russia 2018.

Jorge Olguin He was born in Dolores and was one of the starters of the first men’s soccer team that won the 1978 World Cup.

He stood out for having become champion in all the teams where he played: in inferiors and in the first of San Lorenzo de Almagro; in Independiente he won local titles; he was World Champion with the National Team; With Argentinos Juniors he obtained local titles, won the Copa Libertadores de América, and played the remembered final with Juventus.

He was above the doubts of many and ended up being the mainstay and figure of the 1978 World Champion Argentina National Team. He played for 10 points for all media in the World Cup final against the Netherlands.

He was one of the finest and most versatile defenders in the history of Argentine football. He played in all the positions of the rearguard and in all of them he was champion. He retired in 1988.

It also has a prologue written by Leopoldo Jacinto Luque, also enshrined in the 1978 World Cup and one of the greatest friends that football gave Jorge Olguín, who died at the age of 72, in February 2021, a few months later. to write that foreword.

The biographical work contains testimonies from Olguín himself, and narrates, for example, how the concentrations prior to the 1978 World Cup were held at the Villa Marista, in Mar del Plata, under the leadership of César Luis Menotti.

There are also first-person accounts of the highlights of Jorge Olguín’s career, such as the remembered final against the Netherlands, or the “final that was never lost”, that of the Intercontinental Cup in Tokyo against Juventus, after becoming champion of the Copa Libertadores with Argentinos Juniors in 1985.
