Alfred Schreuder had a heyday as the trainer of Club Brugge on Wednesday evening. The 49-year-old Dutchman saw his team win the Union top match 1-0 and can already smell his first national title as head coach. Brother Dick Schreuder did less well 170 kilometers away in Rotterdam. Schreuder’s team PEC Zwolle lost 2-0 to Sparta and relegated from the Eredivisie after ten years.

Club Brugge coach Alfred Schreuder has a brother Dick, one year older, who took over the sporting helm at the Dutch first division team PEC Zwolle since November last year. At that time, PEC was in a bad state. It only counted four points and was signed last. Dick Schreuder regained the momentum, let his team play offensively and take points. But the gap with the rest of the relegation candidates was too big. On Wednesday, after ten years of Eredivisie, the curtain fell for the team from Zwolle.

Alfred Schreuder will start as head coach at Ajax next season, but there will be no clash with his brother in the Eredivisie for the time being.
