the former president Squid (EN) criticized this Thursday the “negligence” of the Bolsonaro government with the Amazon and promised to end the mining on indigenous lands in their eventual future government.
“It is a pity that the government does not exist, at this moment, in the region (…) We are going to go back to doing what we were already doing. We had decreased the logging in the Amazon by 80%, we were marking the largest number of indigenous lands in the history of this country, creating territories for forest reserves”, he said in an interview with Rádio Difusora, from Amazonas.
“But since 2016, we have people governing this country who don’t care about it, who go over it (…) there will be no mining on indigenous lands. This is a matter of law, of the Constitution, a moral duty of Brazilian society”, said Lula.
