The city’s police authority reported that the owner and three responsible for the design and construction of the property were arrested this Sunday on suspicion of “an accident.”

The demolition of the approximately 700-square-meter building happened last Friday at 12:24 p.m. (local time). No deaths have been reported yet and five people were rescued.

The rest of those arrested were members of a building audit company who “provided a false security report after conducting a building security audit at the hotel.”

Although the rescue work continues, the authorities do not have many expectations with the rescue, since there is not enough space for the excavations.

In addition, the adjoining buildings could fall causing greater damage.

The building had various commercial points on the first two floors, while a cinema was active on the third floor and the last two were dedicated to accommodation.

The president of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, indicated to strengthen the rescue efforts, which are being led by State Councilor Wang Yong.
