After three years of suspension due to the covid-19 pandemic, this Saturday (06) the Haras Engenho Auction of Arabian horses takes place at Fazenda Engenho, in Maracaju, a municipality 159 kilometers from Campo Grande. This year’s edition will have 23 lots with the sale of coverings and embryos, in addition to horses for exhibition, sport, breeding and work, neutered and non-neutered. The opening bid is free, with television and internet broadcasting. There will be lunch from 12:00, with live music by Zezinho Nantes.

Approximately 300 people from the state and also from São Paulo, Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais are expected to attend the event that has become a tradition among horse breeders in Mato Grosso do Sul and other parts of Brazil. Organized by creator Laucídio Coelho Neto, the event also has creators Alexandre Puga Barcelos and Jairo Queiroz with event partners.

The first auction of horses by the family of Laucídio Coelho Neto, who is the son of lawyer and former senator Italívio Coelho, took place in 1987, in Campo Grande, and was entitled “Top MS Auction”. The event also included other races besides the Arab. The first exclusively for Arabian horses took place in 1989. In 2013, the event was held at Fazenda Engenho, in Maracaju-MS.
