Two dead, 10 injured in Florida boat crash

Two people died and 10 were rescued alive after a collision between their boats that occurred overnight near Key Biscayne, in the south of Floridareported the Coast Guard and local authorities.

Two bodies were recovered during the rescue operation, one by the Miami Beach Coast Guard Station and one by the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Service, according to authorities.

The Coast Guard said in a statement that one of its aircrews aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter had a crucial role in dealing with the emergency.

A rescue swimmer was also dispatched to assist two critically injured people, one of whom was taken to Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Another nine survivors were sent to another hospital, according to authorities. Their names have not been released.

“On behalf of the Coast Guard and our partner agencies, we want to offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones,” said Lt. Cmdr. Benjamin Tuxhorn, Coast Guard Sector Search and Rescue mission coordinator. in Miami.

He added that the Coast Guard and the first teams to respond to the emergency worked exhaustively in the search and rescue operation.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the collision.
