UN Secretary-General António Guterres, speaking at a regular meeting of the United Nations Security Council, called for the return to world markets of products, as well as fertilizers of Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian production.
He emphasized that it is necessary to reintegrate all this into world markets as soon as possible, regardless of the crisis taking place in Ukraine.
The Secretary General is sure that this is necessary for the speedy solution of the global problem of food security threatening the world. The global food crisis was predicted in April by the head of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Qu Dongyu.
As you know, European and other markets are already experiencing a shortage of grain, sunflower oil, and fertilizers produced in Russia. Anti-Russian sanctions imposed by Western countries now do not allow them to be supplied to foreign markets, which has already caused a shortage of many products, a sharp increase in their cost.
“I will do my best to help establish a dialogue, to help make this a reality,” the UN Secretary General said.
