As the responsible police headquarters in Neubrandenburg announced, the man had been reported missing in the morning.
According to his travel companion, he left Ahrenshoop the night before to go fishing on the Bodden side of Born, but then did not return.
Police officers found the missing person’s car in Born, but not the man, it said. A large-scale search was then started, in which a police helicopter, the water police, local fire brigades, divers from the DLRG and sniffer dogs were also involved.

The search operation was interrupted and is expected to resume on Saturday, said a police spokesman.
The missing man is about 1.80 meters tall and of average build, according to police. He has dark short and thinning hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was said to be wearing a black T-shirt and gray three-quarter length Capri pants.
