minute30.com .- DANE reported that in April 2022 the monthly variation of the Consumer Price Index in Colombia was 1.25%. Compared to April 2021, the variation was 9.23.

In the month of April 2022, the CPI registered a variation of 1.25% compared to March 2022, three divisions were above the national average (1.25%): Clothing and footwear (2.99 %), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.75%) and finally, Furniture, articles for the home and for ordinary maintenance of the home (1.49%).

Below were: Recreation and culture (1.18%), Restaurants and hotels (1.09%), Miscellaneous goods and services (0.96%), Health (0.87%), Accommodation, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.82%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.68%), transportation (0.66%), information and communication (0.13%) and lastly, education (0.01%) .

The largest contributions to the monthly variation of the CPI (1.25%) were found in the divisions of: Food and non-alcoholic beverages, Lodging, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Restaurants and hotels, Clothing and footwear and Transport, which contributed 1.06 percentage points to the total variation.

CONSOLIDATED DATA SO FAR IN 2022

So far this year (January – April), four divisions of goods and services were above the national average (5.66%): Food and non-alcoholic beverages (13.25%), Furniture, household items and for ordinary maintenance of the home (9.14%), Restaurants and hotels (7.32%) and lastly, Clothing and footwear (6.52%).

The rest of the divisions were below the average: Education (4.80%), Miscellaneous goods and services (4.58%), Transportation (4.07%), Health (4.00%), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.07%), recreation and culture (2.63%), accommodation, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (2.60%) and finally, information and communication (0.12%).

The greatest contributions to the variation so far this year (January – April) were found in the divisions of Food and non-alcoholic beverages, Lodging, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Restaurants and hotels, Transportation and Furniture, articles for the home and for ordinary maintenance of the home, which together contributed 4.78 percentage points to the total variation.

COMPARISON OF THE CPI WITH APRIL 2021

In the month of April 2022, the CPI registered a variation of 9.23% compared to April 2021. In the last year, the divisions Food and non-alcoholic beverages (26.17%), Restaurants and hotels (14, 37%) and finally, Furniture, articles for the home and for the ordinary maintenance of the home (11.76%) were located above the national average (9.23%).

Meanwhile, the divisions Transportation (7.68%), Miscellaneous goods and services (7.37%), Health (6.45%), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.23%), Accommodation water, electricity, gas and other fuels (4.75%), Recreation and culture (4.18%), Education (2.85%), Clothing and footwear (2.23%) and finally, Information and communication (-10.01 %) were below the national average.
