The Vestibular 2023 of UEMS (State University of Mato Grosso do Sul) will reserve 45% of vacancies for quota candidates. Applications remain open until November 24 via the institution’s website.
Of the vacancies for quota holders, 20% are for blacks (blacks and browns), 10% for indigenous people, 10% for residents of Mato Grosso do Sul and 5% for people with disabilities and pervasive developmental disorders (PCD ).
The entrance exam receives applications until November 24, 2022. In the 2023 entrance exam, 1,322 places are being offered in 64 courses, in 14 cities. The organization of PSV-UEMS 2023 is the responsibility of the Research, Teaching and Culture Support Foundation – FAPEC.
Of the total of 1,322 vacancies offered, 262 are offered to Blacks (Blacks and Browns), 144 to Indigenous people, 144 to Residents of Mato Grosso do Sul and 64 to PCD. Candidates for Black and Indigenous quotas must have completed high school in public school(s).
Legislation in the State determines the distribution of vacancies for indigenous people, self-declared blacks and PwD. In 2020, Law No. 5,541 brought the reserve for candidates who prove residency established in the State of MS for at least ten uninterrupted years, in any of the municipalities of the State.
Mato Grosso do Sul is the only state that has a law that guarantees indigenous access to public higher education. In Brazil, only UEMS reserves 10% of all its undergraduate vacancies for indigenous people. This university access system – based on quotas – is considered a breakthrough by many specialists.
