On Monday Vladimir Putin discussed with farmers the food security of the country. The reason was the discovery of Tyumen region turkey breeding center.
“Such projects are significant and are designed to significantly strengthen our food security and independence, provide farms with domestic breeding material, and improve product quality,” the head of state said.
Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev said that Russia still depends on the import of breeding poultry. We are talking, for example, about eggs for poultry farms from which guaranteed good laying hens will be obtained. But we are reducing our dependence.
General Director of the selection center “Change” Anatoly Komarov said that another large breeding plant for chickens was being built in the Moscow region.
– Are you a professional soldier? How did you get into the agro-industrial complex? Putin asked Komarov.
“I have served in the armed forces for half my life. But for the last nine years he taught and worked part-time at a poultry complex.
– Rocketeer? the president clarified. – Rocketeers know how to hit the target. I’m sure everything will work out here.
Agrarian Sergey Novikov complained to the head of the country that China does not open its market for our pork. But we could export meat worth a billion dollars there!
“We are in contact with our Chinese friends, I am sure that we can come to an agreement,” the president promised.
At the end, the Russian leader concluded that the country has largely begun to fully provide itself with food. We exported one meat for 1.5 billion dollars a year! Milk production is still lagging behind, but consumption is completely covered by Belarus.
