“Eyeworks came out on top from the discussions with various production houses. It has concrete plans to invest in the further growth of the series and gives a central role to current employees. Eyeworks has been continuously making fiction for public broadcasting since 1995, including Cops, The twelve, Home-grown and Chantal.
The relocation of Home to an external production house is part of a round of cuts by the VRT: it must save around 25 million euros by 2025. However, with this transfer, about seventy employees would not receive equal or equivalent employment conditions, which resulted in a conflict between the VRT management and the trade unions. Earlier this week, cast and crew therefore laid down work for the third time. (bpr)
