We won't get rid of the heat, but the thunderstorms will come soon

The sky will be cloudless in most parts of the country, but cumulus clouds will form in the second half of the night on the northwestern and western border. There will be no precipitation. In North Transdanubia, the northwesterly wind will pick up, in some places it will become stronger, in others the air movement will be weak or moderate.

On Friday, the heat continued to increase, with the exception of the western and northeastern counties, where the average daily temperature was already around 27 degrees. The National Meteorological Service danger signal, a two-level, orange alert was issued for ten counties due to heat. Temperatures above 27 degrees are likely in the following counties:

  • Pest county
  • Baranya county
  • Bács-Kiskun county
  • Bekes County
  • Csongrád-Csanád county
  • Fejér county
  • Győr-Moson-Sopron County
  • Komárom-Esztergom County
  • Jasz-Nagykun-Szolnok county
  • Tolna county.

A cold front will arrive on Saturday, as a result of which the heat will end in the western half of Transdanubia and the northeast. However, in the Great Plains and the wider area of the Danube, the average daily temperature may still be above 27 degrees, in some places around 28-29 degrees.

According to the forecast, especially on Saturday afternoon, thunderstorms may form in places in the North Central Mountains, which may be accompanied by intense precipitation, stronger winds and fine ice.

There is a small chance (even on Saturday morning) that the sky may thunder on the western border. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, in the Transdanubian Central Mountains and the Northern Central Mountains, thunderstorms can be expected in addition to showers.
