There will be no scheduled public transport vessels operating on the Danube capital section this year, said the To Telex Tibor Bolla, CEO of BKV. The epidemic had a severe impact on the company’s budget, with the operation of the vessels already being paid for.
The operation of the watercraft cost BKV an additional cost of HUF 300-500 million per year, so it was decided to spend this amount on surface transport this year.
Bolla Tibor he said it had not yet been decided what the fate of the ships would be next year: whether to continue at a loss or raise ticket prices to market price levels to keep the business afloat.
BKV’s fleet consists of seven vessels, and BKV calls for tenders for their operation every year. The winning contractors will operate the vessels between March and the end of August.
