Lotte Kopecky will only ride individual numbers (elimination, omnium, and points race) at the Track Cycling World Championships in Roubaix (20-24 October). So no plow course. Shari Bossuyt, the dreamed successor of Jolien D’hoore, rides alongside the young Katrijn De Clercq. Nicky De Locke takes up the position in the keirin.
“Lotte wants to see how far she can get in the individual numbers,” says national coach Peter Pieters. “After the World Cup, we will take stock and see which direction we want to go in function of the Olympic Games in Paris. That also applies to the men.”
In the men’s race, the departing Kenny De Ketele goes for medals in the points race and team race (with Robbe Ghys). The youngsters get their chance. Jules Hesters has been selected for the elimination, Tuur Dens for the scratch and Fabio Van den Bossche drives the omnium.
The Belgians (with Tuur Dens, Noah Vandenbranden, Brent Van Mulders and Gianluca Pollefliet) also drive the team pursuit. (bow)
