This Friday (14), Mato Grosso do Sul will receive the first batch of pediatric vaccine from Pfizer. According to the SES (State Health Department), of the 18,300 doses that will arrive, 7,268 will be destined for indigenous children.
The distribution of the other 11,032 doses will be divided between 9,202 units for the other children and 1,830 for the technical reserve. The batch with the doses is expected to arrive during the morning period this Friday. After the initial reception, the vaccines will be distributed to municipal secretariats from 1 pm.
According to an estimate by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), Mato Grosso do Sul has 301,026 children aged 5 to 11 years, who must be immunized against covid-19. To continue with the immunization, the forecast of the SES is that the Ministry of Health send other batches of vaccine for children during the next week.
On immunization, the Secretary of State for Health, Geraldo Resende, highlighted the importance of those responsible for taking children to vaccination units. “In this abrupt moment of the disease, vaccinating children is a wise move. Especially on the verge of returning to school. In partnership with the municipalities, we will vaccinate as many children as possible in the first batches”.
After the distribution of doses, it will be up to each secretary to provide the vaccination. It will be necessary to accompany those responsible with documentation of the child.
