After an extremely exciting second day of competition, Sébastien Ogier (Toyota Yaris WRC) is again in the lead in the Rally di Monza on Saturday evening. The Frenchman has a tiny lead of half a second over Elfyn Evans (Toyota Yaris WRC). The Toyota duo precedes two Hyundais. Dani Sordo (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC) is third, Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC) is fourth.

During the second day of the Rally di Monza, good for six classification stages and 108.24 competitive kilometres, there were no fewer than five position changes at the top of the classification. Ogier and Evans played leapfrog all day. In the end, it is Sébastien Ogier who finished the second day of competition as leader.

The Toyotas are a bit too strong for the Hyundais. After his mistake this morning, Neuville tried to close the gap in third place from teammate Dani Sordo. “As long as Dani doesn’t make a mistake, I won’t be able to. On Sunday I will enjoy the last GC stages with this car”, said Neuville at the finish.

At this position, Sébastien Ogier conquers his eighth world title on Sunday and, together with Elfyn Evans, gives his employer Toyota the world title among the constructors. To be completely sure, the duo still have three more classification stages to ride. As long as they are not ridden, everything remains possible and Evans continues to have a chance at his first world title with the drivers. Grégoire Munster and Louis Louka (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) finished the second day of competition in 15th overall, good for fourth place in WRC3.
